55 Seventy is searching for a Service Director & Sommelier to join our FOH leadership team!

 

55 Seventy is an 8,500 sqft private social club, tasting room, and wine storage facility located in Preston Center in the heart of Dallas, TX. We are currently looking for passionate, creative, mature hospitality professionals with an ability to build relationships through a shared passion for wine and service.

 

The Service Director & Sommelier position will be responsible for management and administrative duties, and will work the floor as a sommelier for the remainder of each shift in a supervisory role. All members of our wine team will have input on the club’s wine collection, will be asked to lead wine tasting seminars at all levels of complexity, will participate in the creation of retail wine offers, and should be comfortable leading service and executing pairings for wine dinners and tasting menus for 14-28 people.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Create a positive work environment where staff members feel appreciated, challenged and excited to be a part of the 55 Seventy team

  • Manage the service staff and uphold the expected level of service

  • Create weekly staffing schedule

  • Develop weekly service plan for private events, club events and nightly service

  • Ensure proper set-up of all rooms with appropriate service wares, smallware’s, glassware, and other required materials such as custom menus, florals, personal items, decorations, etc.  

  • Train and educate the staff in all aspects of wine service and knowledge, candidate will work with management to develop education roadmap for staff members to advance their service capabilities

  • Manage tip pool and provide weekly payroll report to management

  • Support wine team with selections, inventory, list management etc.

  • Work nightly service as a sommelier while leading and managing the service staff

  • Lead wine tastings for staff and members

  • Develop and maintain relationships with members

  • Provide input to management on all aspects of the business to help improve member experience

 

 

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of service experience in fine dining, country club or luxury hospitality

  • 2+ years of leadership experience as a service director or similar role

  • Experience developing and implementing service standards and training programs

  • Extensive wine knowledge and experience as a floor sommelier is strongly preferred (no official certification required but wine knowledge will be tested as part of the interview process)

  • Exceptional EQ and the ability to communicate effectively and build strong working relationships with the staff and members of the club

  • Problem solving skills and the ability to adapt on the fly

  • Excellent communication skills

Our ideal candidate will have exemplary leadership and communication abilities, a strong passion for wine with deep knowledge within the classic regions of the world and should demonstrate an ability to speak about wine to drinkers of all levels, understand the importance of humility within wine service, and should approach their work without ego.

 

Salary range is $70,000 - $85,000 + bonus, health benefits, vacation stipend, and the potential for growth within the company as we expand to multiple locations cross the country.
