Cellar Manager & Sommelier

Location: Dallas, Texas (Preston Center)

55 Seventy is a private, membership-based club located in the Park Cities that seeks to reinvent the wine club experience in Dallas. We are create community through our world-class wine offerings, chef-driven cuisine, and unique programming. Our members can store wine in our temperature controlled cellar and will have the opportunity to discover top-tier, small production wineries from around the world at our upscale tasting room in Preston Center.

We are seeking a dynamic sommelier and wine professional to join our opening team. This position will be responsible for 2-3 hours per day of cellar management duties, and will work the floor as a sommelier for the remainder of each shift. All members of our wine team will have input on the club’s wine collection, will be asked to lead wine tasting seminars at all levels of complexity, will participate in the creation of retail wine offers, and should be comfortable leading service and executing pairings for wine dinners and tasting menus for 14-28ppl.

The club will open with a list of 450-500 selections focusing on classic regions and benchmark producers. Our ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge within the primary classic regions of the world, and should demonstrate an ability to speak about wine to drinkers of all levels, understand the importance of humility within wine service, and should approach their work without ego. The compensation structure for this position should gross about $85-90k annually with the potential for growth.

This position will be paid salary, tip share, and commission, and will have access to our medical benefits and 401k plan. Projected start date is mid-August 2022.

The schedule for this position will involve nights and weekends! We are closed on Sunday and Monday.

The ideal candidate will possess the following minimum qualifications:

  • Strong passion for hospitality, food, and wine.

  • Five(5) years of restaurant / hospitality experience in a service-related role.

  • Two(2) years of experience in a sommelier / wine service role.

  • Exceptional verbal communication skills.

  • Strong ability to multi-task and remain calm under pressure.

  • Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset.

Pay: From $80,000.00 per year
